I delivered the presentation "Blended Learning in Customized Business Solutions" at Sprachen und Beruf in Düsseldorf, Germany on May 9, 2006. The presentation is an overview of what I think "genuine" blended learning is. The presentation contained snapshots of several different modules of actual blended learning programs designed and implemented by U.S. English Services. It was very well recieved and I was able to answer lots of interesting questions afterwards.
The conference again was very useful in terms of content and networking. I started the conference off by attending the Business Spotlight workshop: Blended Learning - 10 Keys to Success. This was a lively interactive workshop on the basics of running a good blended learning program. Meg Englemann, Deborah Capras and Ian McMaster did a wonderful job of covering ten keys elements. Frankly, I like anything involving a concise list of ten, and the Spotlight team made such a professional job of the workshop. For me, the benefit was not only in what I learned as far as content but also what I learned through their interactive delivery. This is best practice at its best!
I also got to meet several other trainers facilitators and language school owners during this event for a little networking. It was great to meet Genevieve Besser of besser-english.de who also happens to hail from New Jersey and is enthusiastic about blended learning.
I was surprised to learn in discussions with many of the participants that podcasting is still so new to so many trainers and school directors. Hmm...
