I co-facilitated a workshop in Southern France in late April on quality management in teaching at an international school. It was a little different from what I usually do, but helping to demonstrate best practice and management to "conventional" F2F teaching staff is important. I think the workshop helped the teaching staff understand why quality management is so important and I believe they came away with a good understanding of some of the tools available to achieve this. The staff showed enthusiasm for deploying quality assurance instruments to make their teaching practice more effective.
The next step would be to introduce Blended Learning to increase the effectiveness of their teaching. Many are technophobic and some fear increased transparency. I have the general impression that good, effective teachers in the public school system are curious about and accept many of the tools that increase their teaching effectiveness while poor teachers are often militantly oppossed to adapting to the present. What a waste of resources and wahat a tragedy for youndg learners. Students in the system are so far ahead of their teachers as far as adoption of technology and self-directed learning and informal learning, I sometimes wonder how long it will be before the entire educational system simply implodes.
